This research sought to determine the relationship between direct leadership practices and the organizational commitment of teachers in a private educational institution in Lima. The design was non-experimental, transactional and correlational. The sample consisted of 110 regular basic education teachers at its three levels. The Kouzes and Posner Inventory of Leadership Practices (IPL) and the Meyer and Allen Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (CCO) were used as instruments, both adapted and validated for the present investigation. It was found that teachers considered leadership practices that are below the 50th percentile, while organizational commitment shows a slightly higher trend. It was also found that there is a direct and moderate relationship between the study variables; regarding the leader's practices, the challenging dimensions of the process, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act and serving as a model of low and direct relationship with affective and normative commitment, but not with the commitment of continuity where there is relationship , the dimension provide encouragement direct and moderate evidence relationship with affective commitment and only the dimension enable others to act directly and low direct relationship with the commitment to continuity. Therefore, it was concluded that there is a direct and low relationship between the practices of direct leadership and the organizational commitment of teachers in a private educational institution.
