The main objective of this research was to identify an explanatory model for learning styles (active, reflective, theoretical and pragmatic), based on the dimensions of the motivation for achievement. The design was non-experimental transversal, causal correlational and was evaluated on a non-probabilistic sample formed by 181 students of both sexes of a private university of Lima, our fluctuating ages between 18 and 26 years, to whom the Attributional Motivation Scale was applied of Modified Achievement (EAML-M), and the Honey Questionnaire - Alonso de Styles de Aprendizaje (CHAEA). He found that the explanatory model of the Active learning style was unsatisfactory, since none of the dimensions of achievement motivation could explain this learning style significantly. The Reflective learning style model shows that there is a relationship of direct dependence with the Interaction with the teacher and indirectly with the Interest and effort. The Theoretical learning style model reflects that there is a relationship of direct dependence with the interaction with the teacher and Exams and indirectly with the Interest and effort. The Pragmatic learning style model shows that there is a direct dependency relationship with the Task and the capacity and indirectly with the Influence with peers. It is concluded that the dimensions of achievement motivation specifically explain learning styles.
