The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between metacognitive strategies and learning conceptions in students of the fifth cycle of Human Medicine in a private university. The study design was non-experimental transectional. The sample consisted of 234 students of both sexes selected through a non-probabilistic, criterial or intentional sampling. The instruments were used: Inventory questionnaire of Metacognitive Strategies and Self-Report for Learning Concepts (CONAPRE). The results show a statistically significant relationship between metacognitive strategies and learning conceptions presenting a ρSpearman: 0.67 (strong positive correlation). Concluding that there is a strong positive relationship between the variables: metacognitive strategies and learning conceptions; This implies that students' strategies and conceptions are assumed by each of them as a study methodology to carry out a meaningful learning process.
