The general objective of the evaluation was to identify the cognitive manifestations presented by a student with learning difficulties in reading and writing who is in the third grade of primary education, in a public educational institution. Regarding the intervention, we sought to determine the effects produced by the development of the intervention plan, on the level of mastery of the visual and phonological route of the lexical process of reading and writing. The research used the single case study design where learning difficulties in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics were identified in an 8-year-old student who was in the third grade of primary education with an IQ of 99 that It puts it at an average level. For the evaluation, the PROLEC-R, PROESC, ECLE 1, PRO 1 and EVAMAT-2 were used, which allowed the development of a 24-session intervention plan based on modeling, self-correction and situational induction techniques, which significantly increased the level of mastery of the visual and phonological route of the lexical processes of reading and writing. Among the conclusions regarding the evaluation, it was found that there is a low level in the cognitive processes of reading and writing in a student with learning difficulties and that there is no low level in the cognitive processes of mathematics. In relation to the intervention, the development of the intervention plan significantly increased the level of mastery of the visual and phonological route of the lexical process of reading. Likewise, in relation to writing, the level of mastery of the visual and phonological route of the lexical orthographic processes of writing increased significantly. The implications of the results have been discussed
