The present investigation, supported by the district municipality of Víctor Larco Herrera and the University of Trujillo, includes the determination of the zones of risk of liquefaction of soils during an earthquake in said district of the province of Trujillo; the research process lasted approximately two months between data collection and analysis in the laboratory INGEOMA S.A.C. The purpose of this research is to carry out a liquefaction risk cartogram in this area so that appropriate measures are taken for the prevention of disasters and human losses during a telluric event. The method of Seed and Idriss was used to determine the resistance of the soil against the liquefaction power of an assumed earthquake of approximately 7.5 on the Mercalli intensity scale. The research is justified in the high water table of the area, the humidity and the sandy soil type, characteristic of a soil that tends to liquefy; In addition to the high population density that inhabits this area without doing a minimum soil study. The liquefaction of soils can greatly affect a city during an earthquake, and this can be predicted by past events or normal soil stresses in the area; for this, an amount of 40 points was taken from the entire district, as indicated by the E030 standard, depending on the majority use of the place. The test used for the collection was the SPT and then the characterization of the samples was carried out in order to determine their liquefaction potential. Expected results were obtained, where it is observed that the closer the coast is, the more likely to liquefy exist; It was also possible to classify the soils in three types: the soils that liquefy in their entirety, the soils that only liquefy 5 meters deep, and the soils that do not liquefy at all. In this way it is possible to warn and take the appropriate measures for each case during an earthquake.
