The Faculty of Engineering of the Private University Peruvian Leader has been struggling to establish the guidelines that make effective the implementation of a quality management system, due to economic and structural limitations. The situation is worrisome due to the educational context that exists in Peru, in which 09 universities that failed to comply with the requirements of the Institutional Licensing process imposed by the National Superintendence of University Higher Education SUNEDU have been closed. For these reasons, and seeking to contribute to the improvement of quality management in the Faculty of Engineering, the research assumes as a research problem the following: What components should consider the design of an academic quality management system for the Faculty of Engineering of the Private University Peruvian Leader of the city of Quillabamba in the year 2019? The study was of applied type, descriptive level and simple descriptive design. There was only one variable called the SGCA academic quality management system. To identify the needs of the organization, a diagnosis was made through the application of a checklist based on the International Standard ISO 9001: 2008 composed of 05 dimensions, 23 sub dimensions and 178 indicators. It was identified that the organization does not meet the requirements of the client since it only satisfies 35 of the 178 indicators, a figure that means 20%. The design of the SGCA was made based on the International Standard ISO 9001: 2008 being composed of five components or dimensions: quality management system, management responsibility, resource management, service delivery and measurement, analysis and improvement.
