In the present investigation, the most marked problem was taken as a starting point in Peru, where a significant percentage of housing construction is carried out spontaneously and informally; the families most in need tend to use adobe as the main material for the construction of their homes. Likewise, these constructions are carried out precariously and with non-durable material, which when exposed to the elements and the erosive effects of water; they tend to collapse, thus endangering the lives of their users by making them more vulnerable to phenomena such as floods. Faced with this problem, the present investigation offers alternatives for the protection of adobe buildings that seek to reduce their vulnerability. To achieve this, the flood vulnerability analysis was carried out, under the qualitative method, of the areas with the highest incidence of risk and adobe buildings in the town of Trujillo, thus determining the district of La Esperanza with the greater vulnerability index, soon, adobera of the area was sought for the elaboration of the adobes to be used in the recreation of the test walls (MEs). Three alternatives of protection were proposed: earth covering with the addition of fly ash, lime coating with cement lime and mortar and asphalt earth covering. Of which, after being tested in the simulated flood test, it was determined that the best alternative to reduce the internal and external vulnerability of the adobe buildings is the earth and asphalt coating.
