Objective: To determine the relationship between nutritional status and iron deficiency anemia in children under 5 years of age in a Lima Health Center. Materials and methods: The quantitative approach and correlational design, cross-sectional-retrospective. The sample was made up of 113 children under 5 years of age. Medical records were used for data collection. The applied technique was the documentary analysis, and the instrument was the data collection sheet. Results: The was found a significant association in the finding between nutritional status and iron deficiency anemia (p<0.05). The nutritional status that was most common was normal weight (80.5%) followed by overweight (18.6%) and obesity (9%). In relation to the variable iron deficiency anemia, a higher frequency was found in mild anemia (77%) followed by moderate anemia (23%). Conclusions: It is concluded that there is a relationship between nutritional status and iron deficiency anemia in children under 5 years of age. Furthermore, 8 out of 10 children had normal weight and 7 out of 10 children had mild anemia.
