Mining has been a critical activity for the development of humanity and has also been one of the activities with the greatest risk for people. With the advancement of civilization and since the beginning of the industrial revolution, increasingly stricter and specific laws have been dictated in different activities to guarantee the occupational health and safety of people. In the case of Peruvian mining, this is regulated by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, who through Supreme Decree No. 024-2016-EM has dictated the minimum standards and requirements necessary for an activity to be carried out safely. Sociedad Minera el Brocal, a company that belongs to the medium-sized mining sector, is a company committed to the occupational health and safety of the personnel who work here. It has decided to improve safety standards and implement an integrated occupational health and safety management system. with the aim of reducing the accident rate, which in 2021 was 3.25. In the research carried out, the hypothesis proposed was validated, which indicated that “The implementation of a safety and health plan at work would reduce the number of accidents and incidents“, it was also evident that the accident rate in 2022 dropped to 2.78, the which is also lower than the average in medium mining and shows us that the implementation of occupational health and safety plans will not allow for fewer accidents.
