During the study phase of a mining project, in the feasibility stage, the capital cost is estimated with the objective of achieving greater precision between the projected budget and the total cost of the project. This estimate is widely influenced by the proposed designs in the project, at the same time, the designs are affected by geological, infrastructure, environmental, and other factors of similar nature. In the research, factors and consequences were analyzed that generate a poor design of a crushing plant in the estimation of the capital cost, and considered the analysis of different cases for the design for a crushing plant in a mining project. The research carried out is of a quantitative type, correlational scope and non-experimental cross-sectional design. The topographic characteristics of the place were analyzed and the possible designs of the crushing plant were proposed, as well as the route of the associated belt conveyors for each case proposed to define the input conditions of each proposed design. Based on these conditions, the design of the plant, calculation of belts and estimation of the capital cost were carried out for each case proposed. From the analysis of the capital cost for each case, it was corroborated that a good design of a crushing plant has a positive influence on the estimation of the capital cost.
