The research work is focused on the use of new technologies in the field of drilling and blasting rocks in an underground mine. This new technology is electronic detonators, which have a safer and more precise design and composition than non-metallic detonators. electrical devices that are currently most used in underground mines. The use of electronic detonators generates less damage to the rock mass and consequently greater stability to the mined pits through the sub level stopping method and greater safety during the cleaning of these pits. In addition, it allows obtaining a more uniform and smaller post-blast granulometry (52% smaller), which generates savings in energy use in the crusher and can generate annual savings of $147,000. The methodology used was an experimental methodology that consists of stating the problem, after which the hypothesis of the problem is formulated and tests are carried out with the objective of validating the hypothesis. An analysis was also carried out with the objective of being able to economically quantify the advantages obtained through the implementation of this technique.
