The Thesis focuses on an opportunity for improvement in a Mine, which has pits with vein strength of less than 1.0 meter that are mined using the Ascent Cut and Fill method. In this method, the space generated by the lower cut, this generates that the dilution in narrow veins is more than 280%, which makes the pit not economically mineable. The alternative described in the thesis consists in not using the free face for the lower cut, but in generating a new one in the floor box, which by means of the use of explosives will be projected 15.0 meters backwards and will leave in the front only the load generated by the vein and the roof box, this technique will reduce the dilution to 140% and will allow the pit to be economically minable in addition to generating savings in transportation, lifting and concentrator plant costs that increase to USD 150 000 annually. The methodology used was an experimental methodology that consists of carrying out the approach to the problem, after which the hypothesis of the problem is formulated and the tests are carried out in order to validate the hypothesis. An analysis was also carried out with the objective of being able to economically quantify the advantages obtained through the implementation of this.
