At the Conchán oil refinery, there is no risk study for the fire system, because the regulations do not require it to have a specific risk study; however, the fire system presents failures in the components and accessories, the effects of which will be the deficient attention to the emergency response against fires. The investigation seeks to carry out the risks of the fire-fighting system of the Conchán oil refinery, in order to study, determine, are the operational failures in the fire-fighting system, to quantify the dangers and estimate the risk levels. The Conchán oil refinery is located at km 26.5 of the old Panamericana Sur, Lurín, occupying a 50-hectare plot; It has 72 storage tanks for petroleum derivatives and inputs, with an approximate capacity of two million three hundred thousand barrels, with two processing units; primary and vacuum distillation, fuel dispatch area, sales plant that meets the approximate daily demand of 300 tanker trucks. The research carried out is typified as; observational and according to Salinas (1993) is one that is based on the observation of phenomena, characteristics, situations, without manipulating or varying anything. Transversal, according to Hernández (2014) because data is collected at a single moment and in a single time. Descriptive, according to Mejía, Reyes and Sánchez (2018) because it leads to describing the current or present state of the most important characteristics of the phenomenon to be studied. The methods applied were; HAZOP and FMEA methodologies and OSINERGMIN risk matrices. Applying the HAZOP and FMEA methodologies, the operational failures of the components and accessories of the fire system were determined, with the OSINERGMIN risk matrices, the hazards were quantified and the risk levels were estimated, after applying the corrective actions, the levels of the risk went from 36.4% to 4.5%, for extreme and high risks, and from 63.6% to 95.5%, for moderate and low risks, noting a significant decrease in risk levels.
