In the present thesis I show an exergy analysis of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) of a combined cycle thermoelectric plant. The exergetic analysis to be developed is not used frequently to be able to make decisions and / or actions in the energy industry, the mission is increasing efficiency or identifying the effect of control variables in the thermoelectric generation process, for which this work is proposed present a mathematical model where the first and second laws of thermodynamics are developed integrating the concepts of energy, entropy and exergy. In the development of the thesis, the HRSG will be divided into blocks that will be defined by their operating conditions and when the exergy balances are applied in each block, the exergy destruction will be calculated, where at the end the total sum of the blocks will give us the destruction of total exergy, which will then be compared with the input exergy, obtaining the efficiency through the second law of thermodynamics. The mathematical model will be based on conservation equations that represent the transfer or transport phenomena that are observed in heat recovery systems, this will be of great help to analyze our system in stable and transient states that are of great importance because facilitate the operation of the HRSG will also allow the study, analysis and simulation of HRSG components in order to generate a better use of energy resources and a more efficient thermal behavior. The main heat transfer mechanisms characterize the dynamics of steam generation and flue gas exchange systems that include the response of key process variables, such as pressure, temperature, and mass flow. In order to validate the mathematical model, the HRSG will be built in the Aspen HYSYS® simulation software where a comparison will be made with the mathematical model presented as well using real data from the HRSG in the simulation.
