The objective of this research is to propose an alternative to improve the current drainage system in the urban basin of the Alameda - Ayacucho river using SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage System). As a first step, the current drainage system of the study area was evaluated, for which a hydraulic and hydrological model was built and calibrated in SWMM, which was complemented with the hydrological model of the head watersheds of the ravines in HEC.-HMS. After calibrating the model, 7 analysis scenarios were simulated. In the 1 st Scenario, the current storm drainage system was evaluated, identifying streets with danger of slipping and overturning, and culverts with danger of collapse. In the 2nd Scenario, the ravines were evaluated hydraulically, identifying sections with a high risk of flooding; however, the latter was a preliminary analysis due to the lack of precision of the topographic information in the ravines. Subsequently, the possibilities of improving the current drainage system were analyzed. Due to the limiting conditions of the study area, a previous improvement of the current drainage system was proposed through conventional systems (culverts) and channeling structures that were evaluated in the 3rd and 4th Scenario, respectively. Then, a Single Alternative was proposed, made up of permeable pavement and infiltration ditches, in urban areas where it is not possible to propose other drainage alternatives, which was evaluated in the 5th Scenario. On the other hand, two sustainable alternatives were proposed in the urban sub-basins where their implementation is possible. Alternative No. 1 is made up of permeable pavement and Alternative No. 2, of infiltration ditches; which were evaluated in the 6th and 7th Scenario, respectively. It was concluded that this improvement proposal reduces the danger in streets, sewers and streams. In addition, it was observed that sustainable drainage alternatives reduce peak flow and increase time to peak in hydrographs. The hydraulic design of the alternatives was carried out and finally, the best sustainable drainage alternative was selected by comparing Alternative No. 1 and 2 with technical, economic and socio-environmental criteria, concluding that Alternative No. 1 is the best.
