It is common in the mining industry to use SAG mills in the ore comminution process, in order to reduce the size of the rocks until the appropriate granulometry is achieved for the following processes. The operating principle of a SAG mill is based on the rotational movement and the collision of the mineral with the steel balls it contains inside. During this process, the thickness of the liners that protects the internal part of the mill wears out over time. Therefore, measurements and changes of the liners must be made every so often, reducing the availability of the comminution process and causing a loss of production. In order to improve the availability of a SAG mill, the present work proposes to carry out the projection of the liner based on the design of an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System. In the first instance, the data will be obtained from the SCADA system of a period of 18 months of operation of the SAG mill, for this and based on various simulations in the Neuro-Fuzzy Designer tool of the MATLAB software, develope the design of the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System. All the results obtained will be compared by calculating their respective performance indices based on the mean square error and with this the improvement of the availability of the SAG mill will be validated.
