The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (OSINERGMIN) is the public entity in charge of fiscalize the electricity subsector with the purpose of guaranteeing compliance with the regulatory framework by each agent that develops the activities of generation, transmission and distribution of energy electrical. A fundamental part of the fiscalization activity is the inspection of the facilities, since it allows to reliably verify compliance with the regulations by the agents and guarantee that a continuous, safe and quality supply of electricity is provided to all users. The implementation of drones in the inspection of electrical installations is an innovation of great relevance for OSINERGMIN since it allows addressing the problems and limitations that traditional inspection presents, in addition to providing added value through new information and results that this technology can offer. This paper addresses the period from 2016 to 2019, detailing four drone inspection projects that were executed by the OSINERGMIN Electricity Supervision Division (DSE). These projects include the inspection of different electricity generation and transmission facilities that belong to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN), verifying compliance with the regulatory framework and evaluating its suitability for special cases where electrical installations have been affected by natural phenomena and the Staff access to the facilities is restricted.
