The objective of the development of the thesis “ EFFECT OF WATERPROOFING ADDITIVE ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF TYPE I AND ICo PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE” has been to determine the influence of Chema 1 Waterproofing additive on the mechanical properties of concrete using Sol Cement Type I and Inka cement Type Ico. 480 cylindrical specimens were elaborated with Portland cement Type I and Type Ico, with which standard specimens were elaborated and with Chema 1 Waterproofing additive, with dosages of 4.0%, 4.5% and 5.0% of the weight of the cement, the specimens were tested at 3, 7 and 28 days. 64 specimens were prepared to obtain the permeability coefficient by means of the water penetration test under pressure, using the Colombian Standard NTC 4483. The tests carried out on the Fine and Coarse aggregates, of these the tests of the % of humidity, % of Absorption, the PUS and PUC were made, the results defined the pattern design. Using Type I Portland cement for w/c =0.40, the compressive strength is reduced to 7.12% and the permeability coefficient to 61.29% and for w/c=0.50, the compressive strength is reduced to 11.45%. and the permeability coefficient up to 58.81%, with the use of Type Ico Portland cement for a/c=0.40, it was obtained that the compressive strength is reduced up to 6.34% and the permeability coefficient up to 64.42% and for a /c=0.50, the compressive strength is reduced to 8.28% and the permeability coefficient to 62.20%. It was concluded that when using Type Ico Portland cement, better results were obtained in terms of the variation of the resistance and the impermeability of the concrete. The use of the Chema 1 Waterproofing additive with Type ICo Portland cement is recommended to avoid humidity and prolong its durability.
