This research work was developed in the Hilarion Mining Exploration Project of the CIA Nexa Resources SAA Company, in order to prevent serious accidents, that is to say unwanted events, for this the Bow Tie Methodology was applied, as Management of Critical Risks. The risks that were analyzed were: Vehicles and mobile equipment, machine protection, falling people and hand tools; these activities are considered critical risks with the probability of causing fatalities or serious accidents. A quasi-experimental design was applied; which was developed in twelve months, where the data for the hypothesis test were obtained. The results show that there is a significant influence in the reduction of incidents and accidents compared in two consecutive years. The work consists of four chapters to give it a better understanding and order, where it seeks to present the information in a partial and coherent way. The first point to be developed in this work shows the generalities, in the second chapter the theoretical framework and conceptual framework are described, in the third point; The research methodology is described and the fourth chapter shows the results of the research. To finalize the work, the conclusions are presented, where the recommendations obtained from the results in the application of the Bow Tie methodology as Critical Risk Management are delivered, focused on the continuous improvement of the action plans to avoid the occurrence of possible accidents. Therefore, it is concluded that the application of the Bow Tie Methodology for the critical risks identified in the Hilarion Project, demonstrated the relationship between the dangers, threats, unwanted events, consequences and each of the preventive control measures, mitigators and the hypothesis test shows that there is a significant influence on the decrease in the occurrence of incidents and accidents compared in two consecutive years. The Bow Tie matrix was also generated for each critical risk, which are of great help for the visualization and communication of the Unwanted Events analysis process.
