The objective of the present investigation was to determine if the geriatric comprehensive prevention system improves the response capacity and, therefore, earthquake risk management improves against natural disasters in the older adult population of the Historic Center of Ayacucho, 2015. The research method is explanatory with a pre-experimental level and longitudinal design, on an initial sample of 197 elderly people from the Historic Center of Ayacucho (in their homes) for the diagnosis and a final sample of 20 for the intervention. The techniques of data collection were the survey and observation; in both instruments; the questionnaire and observation script. The results describe that, before the geriatric comprehensive prevention system, 65% of older adults had a low earthquake risk management with a regular prevention and response capacity of 80% and 50%. After the geriatric comprehensive prevention system, 50% shows a medium and 30% good earthquake risk management; while in prevention capacity, 50% had an average prevention capacity and 35% good. In conclusion, the geriatric comprehensive prevention system (Z = -2.828, p< 0,05) and, therefore, seismic risk management (Z = -2; p < 0,05) faced with natural disasters, improvement in the elderly population of the Historical Center of Ayacucho. These findings will allow informed decision-making and the implementation of the seismic risk management strategy for the elderly, in the face of natural phenomenon as a result of earthquakes, in similar spaces.
