The thesis aims to analyse the segregation and socio-spatial fragmentation in the neighbourhoods along the Rímac river in Metropolitan Lima, in order to explore the impact of this mega-project called Línea Amarilla, which crosses eleven neighbourhoods settled along the banks ofthe river, since the late 1940s (20th century). The analysis starts from the perspective of urban mobility and takes the case of the Línea Amarilla road infrastructure. Our analysis covers the period from the signing of the concession contract (2009) to its current operation (2019). This is a fast and exclusive road due to its two tolls along 9 km. The thesis presents a referential framework that is articulated by thematic axes such as City, urban mobility, transport and road infrastructure, Social segregation and spatial fragmentation, Studies on the Left Margin of the Rímac River and Línea Amarilla. This allowed us to present an extensive overview oftheoretical works and case studies related to the thematic area of the thesis. In the theoretical framework we will concentrate on three points or axes that articulate the theory, on the one hand, we will define the perspective of urban mobility, then the multiscale analysis, urban fabric and finally, we will discuss what we mean by road infrastructure, fragrnentation and sociospatial segregation. Then, based on the case study methodology, we will analyse the Línea Amarilla road infrastructure in order to explore impacts such as segregation and sociospatial fragmentation. This thesis seeks to rethink the problem from a human perspective, where the concept of the city for the people prevails; where the individual, the collectivities and the common history are taken into account in the processes of city building and urban regeneration as a basic principie to facilitate people's lives.
