The main objective of this research work is to propose the study of physicochemical parameters of the lubricating oil of diesel engines for the implementation of predictive maintenance. Regarding the methodology, this research was of the applied type, the experimental design and the explanatory level. The techniques that were considered for data collection were observation, documentation and standardized tests, while data processing and analysis was carried out electronically with the support of statistics and computer programs. The investigation began with the taking of samples through a procedure and programmed sampling intervals, then the physicochemical study was carried out where the analysis techniques (degradation, contamination and wear) applicable to the lubricating oil were selected for use in the diagnosis of the engine. Among the tests applied are some standardized by the ASTM (D5185-18 metal analysis, D445-17a viscosity, E2412-10 (2018) oil condition, D3828-16a dilution with fuel) and others of specialized laboratories (taking of photos, PQ ferromagnetic analysis, contaminant analysis, TBN total base number). The results of the research are manifested in a saving of 60.2%, in the value of the costs of maintenance services and in an increase in vehicle availability of 8%. In this way, it was concluded that reading the physicochemical parameter swallows to correlate and predict potential failures of the diesel engine and guarantee that the lubricating oils are changed only, when necessary, usually when some parameter is outside the control limits.
