This work uses an algorithm based on reliability indicators to evaluate the criticality of distribution feeders in a quantitative and objective way, in order to increase the reliability of the distribution system and reduce service interruptions to consumers and thus improve the quality of life and economy of the population. The methodology of this study is correlational, according to a quantitative approach and considering a non-experimental design. The variables of the method are a function of the cost of interruption of electric service to customers and the electric service quality indexes. The method prioritizes the elements of the electrical distribution system at two different levels for reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). At the first level, the feeders of a distribution substation are prioritized based on a criticality analysis. At the second level, critical feeder components are analyzed for RCM actions. The main objective of the analysis is to prioritize critical feeders in order to propose maintenance actions and alternatives in the electrical distribution network to improve the reliability and quality of electrical supply in the distribution feeders.
