The objective of this doctoral thesis is to implement a materials planning system that improves decision-making in a fishing industrial investment project. The materials planning system considers demand forecasting models, aggregate production planning, master production schedule and the material requirements planning within an MS Excel® template. The investment project has three scenarios. SCENARIO 1 contains a materials planning system and the seasonal additive time series decomposition forecasting model for demand. SCENARIO 2 also has the same materials planning system, but uses actual data in the demand projection and SCENARIO 3 does not have the materials planning system, but uses the linear trend model for demand forecasts. canned fish. The aggregate production planning and the material requirements planning were optimized with OpenSolver and the project evaluation indicator for statistical hypothesis testing was the net present value. Statistical tests confirm that decision making in project investment is improved by implementing a materials planning system.
