The general objective of this thesis was to determine the best pipeline system to be used in the intervention of gas pipelines in contingency or emergency conditions, based on the technical-economic evaluation. The type of research was applied, quantitative approach, descriptive-explanatory level, and with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. On the other hand, 4 types of flexible pipes used in the Oil and Natural Gas industry were considered: Flexsteel 8“, Flexsteel 6“, SoluForce 6“ and Shawcor 4“, which were compared with the 14” steel pipe. The techniques used for this study were observation and documentary analysis. Likewise, the instruments used for data collection were record sheets. For data processing, Microsoft Excel software was used, which allowed the construction of tables and graphs to facilitate results interpretation. A hydraulic analysis, evaluation of reference times for installation and enablement of the flexible pipe system. As well as an economic comparative analysis between flexible pipe versus steel pipe were carried out during the study of the installation of a Temporary By-Pass and repair of 34” pipeline of one company user of natural gas. In conclusion, the use of By-Pass of 14” steel pipe compared to the use of By-Pass of Soluforce 6” flexible pipe does not represent a significant difference in terms of repair time. Additionally, performing the repair with 14” steel pipe could be more favorable from a technical-economic point of view.
