Before 2 018, the natural gas concessionaire for the pipeline network maintained a sustained advance of 4,000 customers connected per month. In the middle of the management of 2 018, the average number of customers not connected to the natural gas service was higher, with claims for not having natural gas service increasing in the same proportion, one of the factors being non-compliance with the Minimum Safety Distance between the Low Voltage underground electricity network and the Low-Pressure underground gas pipeline. Installing the gas pipeline in conditions of breach of the minimum safety distance predisposes the risk of fire or fire, generating potential damage to people, structures and the sanctions applicable by the supervisory body. At the end of the management of the year 2 018, the Concessionaire socialized its indicators, showing 40% of connected clients, the percentage expected by the company being 60% -65%, therefore, the Concessionaire formed a multidisciplinary team to solve the problem within two months. The team asked the question, Is there a design of an alternative system to reduce the minimum safety distance and reduce the number of complaints from customers not connected to the natural gas service ?, and the answer was no. Based on the expertise of some professionals of the Concessionaire, knowledge and work experience, involvement and commitment of the entire team, we begin with the planning, programming, research, testing, development and finally, presentation of the technical file to the Supervisory Body. The Objective was to Design an Alternative System to reduce the Minimum Safety Distance and our Hypothesis to reduce the number of claims from customers not connected to the natural gas service. As results of the five tests carried out, both with brick material and concrete slabs, using propane gas as a heat source and electric arc welding, and the technical-theoretical supports of heat transfer, thermal resistance of materials, we evidence the objective and we validate our Hypothesis, we prepare the Technical Report, presenting and supporting it before the Natural Gas Supervisory Body.
