Population growth in Peru is directly linked to fuel consumption, generating concern in the energy sector. According to data taken from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, it is estimated that within 20 years oil, the main source of energy, would be exhausted, which leads to opt for new resources, taking importance at this point the unconventional resources from sedimentary rocks with the objective of recovering the hydrocarbon present that is confined in the non-interconnected micropores of the rock, for its subsequent commercialization, alleviating the energy demand of the country (Chambergo R. et al., 2016; Garcia P. et al., 2018). Pyrolysis is one of the most used methods for the recovery of trapped hydrocarbon (Zhan et al., 2020; Zhou et al., 2020). The Lancones Basin is located in the northwestern region of Peru, and presents favorable geological and geochemical characteristics that indicate that the organic matter is autochthonous, being found in the oil window (Morales et al., 2018), however for the application of In this method, it is necessary to obtain the kinetic parameters of the thermal decomposition of sedimentary rocks so that these can be used in the design of the optimum reactor for the pyrolysis process in hydrocarbon recovery. The thermogravimetric data of rocks made up of limestone, shale and siltstone from the Muerto Formation of the Lancones-Peru Basin were analyzed (Morales et al., 2018) and the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Kissinger- Akhira-Sunose isoconversional method was applied, obtaining average activation energy values from 133 to 164 kJ/mol, and from the natural logarithm of the pre-exponential factor from 14.13 to 17.65, however, to obtain this last parameter, the cylindrical contraction model (R2) was used.
