The use of multi-carrier modulation, OFDM, is currently used by different wireless communication systems such as local area networks, metropolitan area networks and also in fourth generation and fifth generation mobile systems. The aforementioned communication systems use the OFDM modulator with cyclic prefix. The advantage of using this prefix is that the intersymbolic interference caused by channel distortion is reduced and allows the signal to be recovered at the receiver in a very simple way. Given the need to decrease the BER of multi-carrier communication systems, new modulation schemes were studied, where the cyclic prefix is not used. One way to do this is by using the DWT as an alternative to using the FFT. The work focuses on comparative study and simulation of new OFDM modulation schemes recently proposed as the DWT-OFDM modulator. This modulator does not use a cyclic prefix and allows reducing the BER, compared to the FFT-OFDM scheme, which uses a cyclic prefix, under the parameters of the 802.16-2017 Wireless MAN-OFDM PHY standard, for the MIMO scheme, from a wireless link fixed point to point with line of view and see how it performs when the communication channel is affected by rain. As a result of the research, it has been proposed a DWT-SBC-OFDM which decreases the BER offered by the FFT-STBC-OFDM modulator under the parameters of the 802.16-2017 Wireless MAN-OFDM PHY standard, for the MIMO scheme, from a point-to-point fixed wireless link with line of view, when the communication channel is affected by rain. The proposed modulator is also proposed for a Telemedicine application between a health center and rural healthcare facility in the province of Anta, which is located in Cusco, Perú.
