In this work, three imaging algorithms using Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GB-SAR) were implemented and then compared, in order to select the most suitable one, and to apply it to the first stage of a SAR Landslide Monitoring System application. The Imaging Algorithms are: “Frequency Domain Back Projection” (FDBP), “Range Migration Algorithm” (RMA), and “Discrete Linear Inverse Problem” (DLIP). These algorithms were tested with simulated data, but only the former two were tested with real data. The simulated data was obtained by the means of a program that generated a matrix of values, accordingly to a user defined scenario. On the other hand, the real data measurements were carried out using the ‘IGP-ROJ’ GB-SAR radar (developed by Instituto Geofísico del Perú - IGP), which was focused on a part of a mountain, where a landslide has occurred. These three imaging algorithms were compared in terms of image reconstruction quality, focusing quality and computational burden. Besides, an analysis was made to figure out the effect of the algorithms on the generation of the landslides graphs and maps, which are the results of the last stage of the landslide monitoring system. Results with both, simulated and real data, showed that the FDBP Algorithm is most appropriate for the mentioned application.
