This sufficiency report is based on my operating experience in the Talara Refinery, the most representative business unit of PETROPERÚ S.A., where I currently serve as Panel Supervisor of the Primary Distillation, Gas Recovery and Vacuum Distillation complexes. Toe amine sweetening process is widely used in the OIL & GAS industry to remove acid gases (H2S and CO2) from gas streams. This process is extensive in energy consumption due to the high heating and condensation requirements. Considering that the reduction of the energy requirement by optimizing its operating parameters will be limited to the equipment and the configuration of the plant. This report reviews the current configuration of the refinery gas sweetening process, consisting of the H2S absorption column with amines (C005) and the amine regenerative column (AC00l), in the Gas Recovery Unit (RG2) (Talara Refinery) considering the main operating parameters (lean amine flow, temperature and concentration). Simulation and sensitivity analysis were performed using a robust simulation software.
