Today, Airports are infrastructures of great importance due to the number of people who circulate in it. In recent years, the country has seen significant growth in passenger demand at the national and international level. Said increase has been reflected in the increase in the number of aircraft air operations. Of the airports authorized at the national level, the Jorge Chávez lnternational Airport (Lima) is the one with the highest air traffic [DGAC, 2017], being necessary to expand its airport capacity through the execution of the expansion project, which includes the construction of a second runway, new passenger terminal, new aircraft platform, new control tower, among other auxiliary areas. This expansion will allow increasing the number of air operations, which leads to an increase in aeronautical noise perceived by the communities surrounding the airport. lt is important to note that the impact of aeronautical noise, for several years, has been a reason for complaints by the residents and municipal authorities. These claims were reflected during the citizen participation workshops developed within the framework of the preparation of the Modification of the Environmental lmpact Study (MEIA), noting that the impact of aeronautical noise is the one that generates the greatest concern to the population. The purpose of this paper is to present the infrastructures and measures that allow mitigating the aeronautical noise produced by the increase in air operations at the Jorge Chávez lnternational Airport, taking into account the technology and the costs associated with their implementation. In the first part, information was collected about the sound measurements carried out at the Jorge Chávez lnternational Airport, as well as the methodology used to prepare the noise traces; which are presented in the current operating conditions and in the future conditions after the execution of the project. Subsequently, the areas affected by aeronautical noise were evaluated and classified. Once this classification was made, the infrastructures to be used in each of the zones were defined, taking into consideration achieving the highest efficiency in noise mitigation according to the characteristics of the place and affected dependencies; Likewise, the regulatory and operational measures that will reduce the perceived aeronautical noise will be described. In the last part of the work, a comparative analysis of the cost of implementing such noise mitigating infrastructures is presented versus the cost that the resettlement of people affected by aeronautical noise would entail. Finally, the set of infrastructures developed, complemented by the proposed regulatory and operational measures, will allow to mitigate the aeronautical noise generated by the aircraft operating at the airport, and will serve as a model to be replicated in airports with the same problem.
