Preventing the interruption of the electricity supply will benefit the population dedicated to industrial, commercial, and residential activity. This, reason for the investigation entitled: “Analysis of failures in medium voltage overhead power lines that cause power supply interruptions in Lambayeque to improve supply quality“, whose objective was to analyze the frequency indicators (SAIFI) and duration (SAIDI) of the failures in the overhead power lines in the voltage means that cause interruptions of the electric power supply in Lambayeque. Toe methodology was quantitative, descriptive and retrospective. Toe population consisted of 241 interruptions due to power line failures during 2020 and the sample was limited to 128 interruptions due to technical failures. The data collection was used with the document analysis file and an interview guide with officials and technicians from Electronorte and Osinergmin. The documentary analysis was carried out, reaching the following conclusions: The analysis of the SAIFI and SAIDI indicators shows a substantial reduction in failures. 92% of the failures are mainly technical, of which 38% were due to a low level of insulation, and 20% due to a drop in the line conductor. From 2012 to 2020, the SAIFI indicator has dropped 67%; and, the SAIDI 72% indicator, having an impact on a better economic and financial situation for the company Electronorte S.A., as the Distriluz Group Company, with the highest performance within the four companies that make up the Consortium. The development of the research work will verify that the hypothesis is POSITIVE.
