The fuel storage terminals carry out processes of: reception, storage and dispatch. All these processes have several associated risks, the most critical being the overfilling of tanks in the reception process. The 20th and 21st centuries have seen catastrophic tank overfill accidents, causing the destruction of a large number of fuel storage tanks in the terminal in a widespread fire. The present research designs an alarm system to prevent overfilling in liquid fuel storage tanks at supply terminals. For the design, the general data of a fuel storage tank, product that stores, operating parameters and category of the tank are collected following the recommendations of the API 2350 standard. The design of the system includes the development of a graphical interface that allows the operator identifies the activation of the high-high alarm according to the defined alarm level, as well as the automatic closing of the solenoid valve at the foot of the tank in the reception line by activation of the alarm.
