The present investigation “Characterization and analysis of the Roadroid method in obtaining the International Roughness Index (IRI) for pavement management“ focuses on exposing the characteristics of this new alternative in the surface evaluation of pavements by the Roadroid method and its analysis correlation plus regression with the class 1 method, laser profilometer. This proposed Roadroid method is new and innovative in the application for smartphones, which facilitates the surface evaluation of the pavement at the time it is required, this being an economical and high-performance method that minimizes equipment requirements. As part of its reliability, the correlational analysis was carried out between the laser profilometer method and the Roadroid method, the latter generating a good expectation of being a feasible tool to be used in determining the surface regularity of the pavement, as well as the regression analysis. Between both methods, the equation was obtained where it is a link to generate new IRI values with greater proximity to the IRI of the laser profilometer. Finally, in this thesis, as an application of a part of the pavement management system, the functional analysis of the pavement of the sub-section 01 of the highway, road section, Concession N ° 3: Mocupe - Cayaltí - Oyotún located in the region Lambayeque, this being one of the 16 highways concessioned by the Peruvian State and therefore based on said study, the resources of the Peruvian State could be optimized by the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Public Use Transport Infrastructure (OSITRAN) for the case of highway concessions generating new bases and / or terms of reference. The focus of this study is not exclusive only for concessioned highways but also, as the case may be, for urban roads in charge of municipal governments in order to optimize scarce resources for the purpose of road conservation and the benefit of users.
