This thesis is about a comparative analysis of two constructing processes of a subway. To achieve this purpose, the typical Hermilio Baldizan Station, part of the second-phase Lima Subway project has been choosen as the subject of study. Costs of executed work consignments and their actual duration are detailed, as well as the current constructing process detailing every step among the constructing process. Then a constructing alternative is shown taking experiences abroad in subways where the retaining element to perform excavations are pilings or shotcrete. Work consignment costs and duration are shown for this method too. Finally, results are displayed, as well as comparisons for constructing costs and work duration, obtaining by this means, that the current constructing method lasts 320 calendar days to carry out the construction of the station box, also called structural hull, demanding also a contract cost of $ 17,653,000.86 not including taxes, only for this stage. Likewise, it will be shown that the presented constructing alternative would last 337 calendar days and an estimated cost of $ 15,878,328.16; in this way we can demonstrate as a final result that using the current method it would take 17 calendar days less to be constructed, and its cost would be $ 1,774,672.70 more expensive. Finally, the advantages of constructing subways with the spaced pilings method are mentioned.
