The present work was developed in order to demonstrate the benefits of implementing the 5S Method in the management of a public entity’s archive. This quality management tool is based on five basic principles: Selection, Order, Cleaning, Standardization, and Discipline, focused on the organization and a life’s philosophy transformation through the change of people habits moving from an individualistic culture to a culture in collectivity, not only at work but also in their daily life. The study was carried out for 3 years, during which diagnoses were made of the tasks performed by the implementation of the 5S Method, with their respective assessments, monitoring, and evaluations, to finally perform the analysis of results. The obtained results demonstrate, through performance standard indicators and archive management indicators, that the proper implementation of the 5S Method achieved a reduction in search times and personnel, as well as increasing the efficiency of archiving management in the production, technical, personnel, and service aspects. Therefore, it is concluded that the implementation of the 5S method managed to have a positive impact on the archive’s management, establishing a consistent and sustainable basis for the development of continuous improvement.
