Due to major industrial disasters that have occurred in the world, due to uncontrolled operations, functional safety in the process industry has been standardizing its methodologies, and currently we have the IEC 61511 standard, Functional Safety in the Process Industry, standard which establishes general guidelines for functional safety, based on the life cycle and the level of integrity granted by a system, but despite the great contribution it provides, it is a standard little used in Peru. Therefore, the objective of this thesis will be to carry out the analysis of the level of safety integrity in a typical storage tank, since it is this area with the greatest influx of people, establishing the acceptable risk levels for the organization, carrying out the calibration of the risk matrix according to Annex D of the IEC 61511-3 Standard, identifying the risks through the HAZOP method, to later carry out the SIL Assignment, according to the calibrated risk matrix and the risks found in the HAZOP, and in this way to obtain the required objective SIL of the SIF, to finally perform the SIL verification, in this way to corroborate that the SIL assigned to the SIF complies with the objective SIL. The integrity level analysis was carried out, applying the IEC 61511 standard, the assigned objective SIL was validated, verifying the SIL with the three parameters required by the standard, modifying the instrumented function to achieve the necessary reduction required.
