In this thesis, the technical evaluation of the redesign of a 22.9 kV primary line in the rural electricity system SER Quinches, belonging to the company Adinelsa SA, was carried out in order to improve the electrical service due to deterioration and lack of maintenance of the electrical installations. The localities that comprise the present study have electricity service, however, due to the poor condition of the primary lines and their facilities, mainly due to compliance with the life cycle of the national wooden poles and the growing demand for electricity in the localities. There have been interruptions in the electricity service, limiting the performance of their normal activities, creating insecurity and reducing the reliability of the electrical system. Therefore, a redesign of the rural Quinches electrical system is necessary. Likewise, for the analysis of the Quinches Rural Electric System, the projection of electricity demand for the years 2017-2037 is considered, where it is verified that the voltage drop in the primary lines exceeds the values of 5% and there is also an increase loss of electrical power. Therefore, it is proposed to redesign the primary line to reduce voltage drop, power losses and increase the power factor. In the present thesis, the adjustment and coordination of overcurrent protections and short-circuit fault currents was carried out, so it was necessary to calculate the primary line parameters throughout the Rural Quinches Electric System using the ETAP software, once obtained These data were dimensioned the equipment for the protection system and carry out an adequate protection coordination in the trunks and derivations of the primary lines.
