This thesis project proposes a solution to a current and recurring problem in the timedelay systems such as heat exchangers of tube and shell used in industrial processes, which is the variation of control parameters due to delay problems and the constant process optimization in order to achieve higher performance. For that reason, the mathematical model is first analyzed in order to evaluate the time response, then an advanced control algorithm based on Smith predictor is designed and implemented in the model and compared with a classic control. Finally, the design engineering of an industrial control architecture is developed considering the controller, I/Os modules and the process simulator in order to validate the results.
