Worldwide, piping costs are recognized as significant for oil refineries. On the other hand in Peru, as a result of Law No. 28694, piping costs has been a significant expense for the main refineries in the country. One option to reduce these costs is to optimize all work carried out to control equipment reactions, and to maintain system operability. Therefore, this thesis focuses in verifying cold spring as an efficient method to control equipment reactions. Therefore, this thesis aims to design a fired heater outlet by applying cold spring. During design, considerations required to model the piping system are first collected. Then, system stresses and reactions are calculated with Autopipe software of Bentley Systems. Results are analyzed according to allowable stresses recommended by ASME B31.3 code, and equipment allowable reactions. In conclusion, cold spring is verified as an efficient method, in a technical and economical manner, as well as capable of being executed.
