Steel is the most widely used material to manufacture pipes, so the use of new materials for the transport of hydrocarbons in the oil industry is a great challenge. New materials have been developed to replace steel and meet quality and safety standards. Pollution of the environment product of oil spills due to pipe failures is one of the main causes for which various methods have been applied to mitigate the causes that originate it, such as: the painting of the pipe, protection systems cathodic, chemical injection, and the use of polyethylene lined steel pipes. In this sufficiency work, the aim is to demonstrate the benefits obtained by installing 6” RTP pipe in the place of 6” SCH 40 steel pipe. Based on experiences from other companies abroad, as well as on own experiences such as the case of the RTP 2” pipeline that is used in the Huff and Puff cyclical gas injection project and that of the 6” RTP pipeline that is used as a pipeline from the PN32 Battery to the El Alto station. A comparison was made between the installation times of two pipes using the Gantt Chart, in the case of the RTP pipe it was installed in 19 days, and if steel pipe had been used it would have taken 121 days to put the pipeline into operation. Additionally, 40% installation cost savings were achieved by using RTP pipe instead of steel pipe. The recommendations of this work indicate that the use of RTP pipe should be evaluated in the other internal pipelines of Lot X and escalated to nearby lots that have similar characteristics.
