The objective of the sufficiency work is to study the pumping tailings transport systems used to comply with the horizontal and vertical growth plans of the mining tailings dams. In the research work, the current problem of a mining company located in the department of Arequipa was used as the object of analysis, where the concentrator plant has a capacity extension plan which increases the production tonnage and at the same time this brings as Consequently, the increase in final waste, in this case the final tailings that is deposited and distributed in the mining tailings dam. In the sufficiency work, the forms of operation provided by the mining company in its tailings dam growth plan are studied and the most critical year of operation is identified where it requires a pumping system that helps to overcome the hydraulic gradient of the system that initially the tailings transport system operated by gravity. After identifying the most critical year of operation, the physical parameters of the tailings obtained from the rheology study are used to identify the theory used to calculate the primary and secondary losses of the most critical transport system of the growth plan of the dam of tailings and after calculating the Total Dynamic Head, the tailings pumps of the system are selected. To achieve this objective, various theses and books, international standards and codes, publications in international journals and congresses are reviewed to develop a theoretical framework that allows the reader to understand the procedure carried out in sufficiency work. The sufficiency work concludes in a discussion of the results obtained, showing as a result the most important conclusions and recommendations for pumped tailings transport systems.
