The Institute for Sustainable Development takes place in Brescia’s city, Italy. The Project is located within a large urban park resulting from a proposal for Urban Regeneration that connects two areas: Caserma Papa (ex militar zone) and Maf Logistic (a former industrial zone, where there is currently an urban void). The project's approach responds to a very important issue today: sustainability. This concept is reflected in different architectural aspects, from the theme of the project, through the site to the sustainable strategies reflected in the form, structure and materiality of it. The Institute aims to generate multidisciplinary research spaces (workshops), as well as masters and doctorates (theoretical classrooms) that focus on the different areas of knowledge taught in the undergraduate careers of the Universities of Brescia towards a sustainable development. The High School, due to its location within a large urban park, also offers semi-public uses - library, showroom, cafeteria, auditorium - aimed not only at university students but also at users of this large park. Likewise, the Institute has a large semi-public square that functions as the building's greenhouse, whose objective is to reduce the use of heating in winter.
