Currently, there is a wide variety of materials for road drainage. However, the first option is usually reinforced concrete because it is a well-known material, which does not always result in the best option. The objective of this study is to propose a road drainage that allows the expansión of the road between Pucallpa and AA. HH. San Martín de Porres, since in the place there is a wooden bridge with a load capacity very limited to the pedestrian crossing and some light vehicles. In addition to this, this bridge is damaged. In this context, two alternatives are proposed: a reinforced concrete structure and a corrugated steel sheets structure. Both alternatives are first analyzed hydraulically in order to obtain a maximum flow and in addition, the flow level is analyzed to obtain the minimum level of the bridge. Subsequently, they are structurally designed, obtaining their geometries, slab thicknesses, plate thicknesses and reinforcement. To determine the optimal option, both alternatives are compared with respect to the budget that would be required in each and also the stipulated execution times. The answers obtained indicate that both alternatives have very similar costs, but in terms of their execution the corrugated metal structure is faster. However, it should be remembered that corrugated metal structures are an import material and delivery has been indicated by the manufacturer with a time between 45 to 60 calendar days, so it must be requested in advance. Taking these results into account, the corrugated metal structure results in an better solution that allows the expansion of the Pucallpa-AA. HH. San Martin de Porres Highway. It is recommended that other existing road drainage materials, such as HDPE pipes, metal cross-linked bridges, Bailey bridges and reinforced concrete bridges, be evaluated as well.
