This thesis includes the study of anomalies found in steel pipelines that operate at pressures greater than and equal to 50 barg, which are part of the natural gas distribution system by pipeline network in the Ica region, which were analyzed Using ILI internal inspection technology through “Smart Pigs”, our study is specifically focusing on its main trunk branch (Humay - Marcona) which is a 20-inch diameter API 5L X70 PSL2 steel gas pipeline with an extension of 200 km. Therefore, in compliance with the resolution approving the Procedure for the development and implementation of a Pipeline Integrity System for Natural Gas Distribution Systems by res of RCD pipes No. 005-2016-OS issued by the Osinergmin, The evaluation of the results of the internal inspection was carried out, using the criteria established in API 579-1 / ASME FSS-1. The evaluation of the integrity of the pipeline took into account the type of anomaly found (dent and loss of material), the maximum admissible operating pressure approved and the location factor of the pipeline (As established in the ASME B31.8 “Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems”), to obtain the maximum operating pressure ranges and, in addition, through API 570 standard, the remaining life of the gas pipelines that were considered in the integrity study was determined. Once the different scenarios had been determined for a possible reclassification of the area where the gas pipeline was installed and the long-term material loss rate was calculated, the pressure levels at which the main gas pipeline could operate were determined, to subsequently provide recommendations, in order to determine the technical feasibility of an increase in its approved operating pressure and thus technically support the proposal prepared by the Contugas concessionaire, on an extension of its trunk gas pipeline to the cities of Ilo and Mollendo to powering the thermal power plants of the southern energy node, given the difficulty of executing the South Peruano Gasoducto megaproject.
