This thesis investigated the Micromineral SIO 400 (national product) as an alternative to microsilica (foreign product), which has a high cost, making the design of concrete more expensive. The research consisted of studying the behavior of medium to high strength concrete using the Micromineral SIO 400 with the plasticizing additive Chemaplast and Portland cement type I for water / cement ratios equal to 0.55, 0.50 and 0.45. The chemical analysis of the Micromineral SIO 400 was performed to find its percentage of SiO2, in addition its density, fineness and the shape and type of the particle were found. Thick aggregate from the Carapongo quarry (Huachipa) and fine aggregate from the Trapiche quarry (Lima) were used. The mix design was based on the aggregate aggregate method to obtain a combination of optimal aggregates and high compressive strengths. Samples of Standard Concrete were developed for the water / cement ratios equal to 0.55, 0.50 and 0.45 with a 4 ”settlement, then the Standard Concrete with Additive was designed looking for the amount of additive and the percentage of adequate water reduction to obtain a 4 ”settlement. The objective is to know how the Micromineral SIO 400 acts on concrete, comparing its properties in each of the designed mixtures. The Standard Concrete with Additive was designed with 0.35% of Chemaplast plasticizer additive of cement weight and Standard Concrete with Additive plus Micromineral SIO 400 was designed with plasticizer additive (0.35% of cement weight) and Micromineral SIO 400 in 5% and 10 % of cement weight for water / cement ratios equal to 0.55, 0.50 and 0.45. The properties of the 12 designs were found in a fresh and hardened state, then the results were analyzed, obtaining that the maximum percentage increase in compressive strength was in test specimens tested at 56 days using 5% Micromineral SIO 400 and Chemaplast plasticizing additive with a water / cement ratio equal to 0.55 reaching 147% with respect to the specimens of the Standard Concrete tested at 28 days. Finally, a Benefit / Cost analysis was carried out including the inputs used in the design of mixtures, obtaining as a result that the most favorable percentage for the Micromineral SIO 400 is when 5% of the cement weight is added, concluding that the Micromineral SIO 400 It is a good alternative for its favorable results and lower cost.
