Currently, people spend more than 80% of their time inside closed premises, whether in shopping malls, business centers, offices, among others, and the population of Lima is no stranger to this reality. This situation leads to being exposed to allergic and lung diseases that affect people's health. Since 1982, the WHO recognizes the Sick Building Syndrome, as the set of discomforts and diseases caused by poor ventilation, decompensation of temperatures, among other factors. Hence the importance of improving indoor air quality and in turn considering energy consumption. The purpose of this work, based on the problems described, is to investigate and demonstrate that the forced injection of outside air improves the quality of air inside a room, and we will also analyze its influence on energy consumption. In order to demonstrate these two points, the design of the air conditioning system of a commercial store in Lima was carried out. Taking as a starting point the data collection of the project (location, interior and exterior environmental conditions, description of the premises, among others), which were used for calculations using the CLTD / CLF method. Then, the results were obtained, generating a series of tables which helped to conclude that the forced injection of outside air is essential in an air conditioning system for good indoor air quality and, finally, regarding energy consumption, it is possible to Determine that it is necessary to first make a general study to choose the air conditioning system that suits the type of operation of the premises, its climatic and geographical conditions, thus achieving energy savings and not making the project more expensive.
