Currently, mining in Peru represents an important sector for the economic development of the country. Mining in the central highlands is mainly polymetallic and its plants comprise the processes of crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening and filtering. The flotation process is the most important because it recovers the mineral of value to the company. The main problem is the high variability in the flotation process, which is produced by the effect of an inadequate adjustment of level control parameters in the cells, which causes an increase in the maintenance operating cost due to the high frequency of change of components of pneumatic actuators. The present work defines the objective of reducing variability through the optimization of the adjustment of the level control parameters using the PHVA cycle as a methodical basis. For this, the parameters are compiled from the DCS historical record system of the concentrator plant, to later evaluate its variability and take the best performances as objective values and optimize the control parameter settings of the other cells. Finally, the reduction of variability in the flotation process is achieved by optimizing the level control of the flotation cells, where the PHVA cycle manages to compare the performance of similar stages of a process to improve those deficient in an evaluation.
