In the present work of investigation the behavior is studied of the RP-10 of pool-type with the new fuel elements of U3Si2, when it is subjected to accidents of excursions of power by insertions of reactivity and by loss of flow of the primary coolant for the first core of work; Likewise, important calculations are made of the nuclear safety margins to verify that it meets the acceptance criteria, according to the design basis of the reactor RP-10. The method used is through the calculation code PARET V7.5 and with previous calculations, used as input data, which consist of geometric values, thermohydraulic parameters, nuclear calculations and hypotheses according to the postulated accidents. The results show that for the accident by insertion of reactivity of 1,5 $ in 0,30 s, does not affect the integrity of the fuel elements of silicides, because the máximum temperature that reaches the clad (sheath) of the plate is 230,16 °C. And for the accident due to loss of cooling flow, the máximum temperature reached by the clad is 98,08 °C, so these accidents do not affect the integrity of the fuel elements. Finally, the limits and safety mechanisms for the new silicide fuel elements for the RP-10, maintain the integrity of the plates of the fuel elements of the first core of work.
