The study of this thesis will focus on increasing the treatment capacity of the concentrator plant, from 8,000 to 10,000 tons per day and improving the performance of the plant as a whole. In the first instance, a metallurgical survey will be carried out throughout the plant, for which the operating parameters such as mineralogy, granulometry, equipment performance, percentage in solids, reagent consumption, circuit design, among others, will be taken into account. With the purpose of having an informative base which will allow us to understand how one stage of the other is related. The main idea is in simple terms “to know the metallurgical behavior of the mineral“, that is, to know what is the reaction of this mineral to the different stages of treatment; crushing, grinding, flotation and filtering. Based on this concept, it is possible to propose modifications to the equipment, circuits and other concentration parameters. The result of previous evaluations indicates that the main limitation for the increase in tonnage is the reduction in size starting from the crushing stage that directly impacts the grinding and classification stage. On the other, when reviewing the previous results of the flotation tests, we find that the common point is the high buoyancy of the Copper ore, so this should be used in its concentration treatment. Finally, an economic evaluation of the project is carried out to determine its viability.
